A Debt We All Owe

Remember when we were much wiser then they when we pretended to listen while lessons were laid Where everything they said was out dated and harsh and we could not wait to get out of the house Time has taught lessons that have now come to pass there's no getting around how we wish to go back to lying in bed without worry or fear of bills being paid or what happens next year A debt to our parents no doubt will remain what could we possibly give them In exchange for their pain The self-sacrificing love to us that they showed and years of hard work with life’s heavy load For all of their time each and everyday all their love and disappointments we could never repay We need to take time and meditate for awhile on the power we have to just make them smile and never neglect the time left to spend with the ones who gave us life and we could always depend
